light bulb could have been changed differently.
7 to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs.
27 to point out spelling/grammar errors in posts about changing light
bulbs.
53 to flame the spell checkers.
6 to argue over whether it's "lightbulb" or "light bulb"
... another 6 to condemn those 6 as anal-retentive.
2 industry professionals to inform the group that the proper term is
"lamp".
15 know-it-alls who claim they were in the industry, and that "light
bulb" is perfectly correct.
156 to email the participant's ISPs complaining that they are in
violation of their "acceptable use policy".
109 to post that this forum is not about light bulbs and to please
take this discussion to a lightbulb forum.
203 to demand that cross posting to hardware forum, off-topic forum,
and lightbulb forum about changing light bulbs be stopped.
111 to defend the posting to this forum saying that we all use light
bulbs and therefore the posts are relevant to this forum.
306 to debate which method of changing light bulbs is superior, where
to buy the best light bulbs, what brand of light bulbs work best for this
technique and what brands are faulty.
27 to post URLs where one can see examples of different light bulbs.
14 to post that the URLs were posted incorrectly and then post the
corrected URLs.
27 to post about links they found from the URLs that are relevant to
this group which makes light bulbs relevant to this group.
33 to link all posts to date, quote them in their entirety including
all headers and signatures, and add "Me too".
12 to post to the group that they will no longer post because they
cannot handle the light bulb controversy.
19 to quote the "Me too's" to say "Me three".
4 to suggest that posters request the light bulb FAQ.
44 to ask what is a "FAQ"?
4 to say "didn't we go through this already a short time ago?"
143 to say "do a search on 'light bulbs' before posting questions
about light bulbs".

I think, this post is about how light bulbs appear on our main forum page. As such, it doesn't belong to "Meaningless Drivel" and should be moved to "JavaRanch" forum.

The thread reopened to discuss whether the move was legitimate or not.

Just wanted to say that I had a similar experience on another site. There people also complained about unattractive "lamp" icon, so finally the moderators changed it. And you know what? Everybody was confused, because now nobody could understand if a forum has new posts or not!

hmm, noone to ask beforehand how to change a lightbulb?
Followed by 50 people discussing various ways of changing lightbulbs, 10 to tell the asker to figure it out on his/her own, 75 to suggest different brands and types of bulb

Is there a FAQ that shows what different light bulbs you can use on the forums?

..1 or 2 to remind all the others that Bush's shortsighted invasion of Iraq has led to the senseless destruction of many otherwise perfectly useable lightbulbs.

On the gripping hand man, it's also led to a boom in the lightbulb industry now that the war is over.
Just think how many lightbulbs will be needed now in Iraq.
You'd almost think that the entire war might have been started because of lobbying by the lightbulb magnats and their powerful friends in congress

I think you'll find that a quick search on Google will find you the answers that you seek.
Incidentally what brand of light blubs does everyone use here? Is there a certain brand that is better than all the others?

I think the topic of god is completely off topic for this thread. Can we please keep on topic and let me know where the light bulb FAQ is?

I see some outsourcing wisdom coming ... Every lightbulb CEO has an obligation to shareholders and should outsource all lightlbulb changes if it increases shareholder margins. But eventually, the impact on workers will not be significant. Only the gruntwork of lighbulb change will get outsourced

I'd like to announce that the new version of the lightbulb changing certification exam (SCLBC 1.4) will be live in April. In order to test the quality of this new exam Sun will be issuing free vouchers to the first 400 respondents. We will be posting the objectives as soon as they become available.
