Was just wondering how much did they agree for finally and did u take up the job, my friend too got an offer, and though she negotiated hard she had to settle for 4.25, she has around 4 yrs exp.Is this far too less. They were saying big or branded companies don't pay high sals like small companies it seems

Negotiation of salary requires a different skill. My friend with 3.5 years of exp was able to get 6 lakhs from IBM. hehe.

If you want more salary join BEA(5 years exp get 12 lakhs, he was working in oracle before), Tavant.

Iflex doesn't pay much but lot of onsite (more money than work in India).

So what do you suggest, she should reject the offer or work for the brand name for less? If you were in such a situation what would you do?

She should take up the offer if there is on-site. Does she have any other offer. IBM has lot of onsite opportunity.

2 years back I had offer from TCS and abc. I joined abc because they paid me more. Later I realised that if I had joined TCS there could have been on site opporunities where I could have made a lot more money. My biggest mistake in life.

Pradeep,

TCS onsite pay is very less(atleast in UK). You got to be bachelor to
save some money.

Cheers,
Anand

Hey guys sorry to interrupt..it appears that you have good idea about companies..I would like to ask which one is better as compare to deloitte (Mastek Dc mumbai) and IBM Global..pune.
On following point:
1.Exposure for tech and market value
2.Onsite oppurtunity
3.Work environment.. like setup..9-12 or 9-6
4.If again market gets down..layoff
I got offer from both and too confused which one is good, however IBM paying 3k more than deloitte, I hv 5yrs of exp

Thanks..

I think Deloitte is famous for consulting, not for software.
Go for IBM Global.

both are good...

IBM does not have much work and as usual like any other consultancy, deloitte has enough work..

Now after 5 yrs exp.. if you have got opportunity to join IBM then I will suggest take some rest and join IBM as IBM and Deloitte pays almost same salary. And long term onsite chances are more in IBM.

Thanks for your advice..I was under impression that onsite chances are more in deloitte..but since IBM is purely for software its possible to get LONG TERM onsite chances.
