I followed all the directions to install the API, but when I try to compile a sample source code, I get the following warning:
--------------------Configuration: JDK version 1.5.0_01 <Default>-------------------- Note: C:\Documents and Settings\Adam Wilkins\Desktop\temp\commapi\samples\SerialDemo\SerialDemo.java uses or overrides a deprecated API. Note: Recompile with -Xlint eprecation for details.
Since this is a warning, you should be able to run the program just fine. I suspect that this example was written for an earlier version of Java and uses some methods and classes that have been deprecated in Java 1.5. You can find out specifically which methods it is using by following the instructions: recompile using the -Xlint flag. If you need help with how to do this, you need to tell us how you are compiling the program at the moment. Are you using the command-line or an IDE?
Sorry, I am unfamiliar with JCreator LE. There should be a menu item to set compiler options. In NetBeans, I would go to the Project menu and click on Options. Then a dialog box pops up where I click on the Compile Time options which then lets me enter options like -Xlint eprecated. Perhaps this example will help you find a similar dialog in JCreator. You should also use the Help system to see if it can help.
