Will Greeny bump up interest rates by 25 or 50 basis points ?

Greeny and his buddies are meeting on the 29th of this month to decide how much to bump the overnight interest rate ?

Analysts are divided in their opinion on whether the hike will be .25 percent or .50 percent.

What do you guys think ?

My wishful thinking calls for no change.

I think 0.25 points is more likely.

I actually think 1/8 point or nothing at all is possible. There are enough inflationary signs for me to want to see a quarter point increase, but the Fed has recently been more tolerant of inflation than I would like to see.

Hmmm. Isn't 25 basis points the minimum that the Fed moves up or down ? All the rate changes that I have seen have been multiples of 25 basis points.

So what's my share of your profits, Shashank?

Hey Warren,

For your share of the profits, I am afraid, you will have to wait till Aug 10 (the date for the next Fed meeting).

Cheers...Shashank
