At last the hostile takeover is done, and there are gonna be job losses on both sides. I feel sorry for those whose jobs are on the line.

How secure is the Oracle platform relative to Microsoft's mid range platform?
And will anyone want to do a hostile takeover of Microsoft ?

Takeove of M$ wold be very unlikely, as if you don't know that! If its anyone then it would be Javaranch ofcourse.

Thinking about the Oracle thing, I feel stupid not to invest in PeopleSoft in the last 18 months. You see, its Larry Ellison and he never accepts defeat at any cost. So I should have known he would increase his bid for PeopleSoft. Pst...another chance to become a millianore lost!

Someone may well attempt to buy out Microsoft at some point but I doubt it will be an IT company.

Remember AOL buying out Time Warner, a company in a completely different line of business and thought unassailable because of their size?

Who knows, Walmart may decide to buy out Microsoft in order to enable themselves to get Microsoft products on their storeshelves at a lower cost than Microsoft is willing to sell them for (OK, bit farfetched but it will serve).
