UPS means Uninterrupted Power Supply or something else?

I can bet a thousand times, a UPS is far more faithful. Every computer may need a UPS but all UPS do not need a computer.

All computers also may not need a UPS. I am yet to see a laptop with UPS.

And yet somehow when the power goes out in our building, the laptop users do not lose any data. It actually took us a few seconds to figure out why this was.

The PDAs and Tablet PCs are exceptionally faithful for longer durations than the bloated desktop ones, which generally need UPS.

That is exactly the point I am trying to make, a computer is less faithful without a UPS. Some have inbuilt like PDAs and Laptops (the criteria is you hold them closer) and some have to be externally propped.

Without the computer a UPS has no meaning. Therefore primacy is of the computer. UPS is only an appendage, and its fidelity can be measured only relative to computer.

You could use an UPS on the snack machine and soda machine. Come on man, where are your priorities?

An offshoot of the collateral UPS family can be used for soda machines snack machines. Those are called inverters and belong to different genre.

Not exactly, but technologically it is the same. However, inverters have a heavy duty usage and not for smaller gigabits that we deal with in day to day life.

So I would suggest one should use inverters and forget UPS.

Don't get me started about those stupid light bulbs.
