Pre requisite for SCDJWS

Hello,
I have 3 yrs of exp in java Jsp & servlets .I have passed SCJP 1.4 last year. I have bought a java voucher for another certification this year. But got stuck on one topic , to go for SCWCD/webservices in terms of market conditions(demand).
Can any one please suggest me on the above .
Wanted to know also what are the prerequisites for appearing webservices certification?

I think web services(SCDJWS) per my suggestion. It has a lot demand in the market and will be there for a while. I have been preparing for that too.

That good to hear about the markatability shows +ve signs for web services.
And good to know that I have colleges with me who are preparing for the same make more convenient to share the pbms or new suggestions.

In fact I wanted to know one more thing that , for web services , what are the prerequisites . Because I heard you must be proficient in XML for WEb services & I am not that much well in XML .
Can you share your initial experience with your study? And some suggestion of books for XML and webservices.

Yes you need to know XML. The RMH book covers it to the level that is needed to understand the webservices.

We all are eagarly waiting for any webservices book from the Head First family.

But apart from it use thr RMH book and MK's notes as everyone does here.

No point in waiting Sridhar..there are many reasons why a book is not coming up. So better get started with blueprints/RMH and other resources in the FAQ section

I remember from my previous posts where Bert saying that he and Kathy are not a big fan of webservices. So it is very unlikely that there might be a Head First book this year.

What about the certification version you have to have for being allowed to do the exam. For example, will SCJP1.4 be sufficient to enter the new 2009 SCDJWS exam?

(I myself have done SCJP5 and I would like to do the new exam that would come out in 2009/2010.)

Hi Marc,

This is what the objectives for the 220(old) exam have to say:

To take the Sun Certified Developer for Java Web Services exam, you must have already achieved the status of Sun Certified Programmer for the Java 2 Platform.

The 2009 exam is still not scheduled here so cannot comment on that
