EXAM REGISTRATION AND BETA EXTENDED UNTIL DECEMBER 10TH, 2008

FYI. Just noticed on the Sun Microsystem web site.

BTW, IIRC, the same happened to SCDJWS 1.4 - beta period was extended.

Seems like not enough people took the SCDJWS 5 beta (for NetBeans there was a limit of 400 candidates)

regads,
MZ

Hi,
Does this mean that the actual DJWS 5 exam is coming soon enough?

It depends on what you mean by "soon" 8-)

Last date to take the beta is December 10th.

Beta results processing takes about 2 months.

So, the earliest new SCDJWS 5.0 test can go into production after February 10th, 2009.

regards,
MZ

Hi,

I have just cleared my SCJP 1.5. Want to appear for SCJWS 1.5.
Please let me know which is the best reference book for that purpose.

Thanks!

Hi Mikalai,
If the beta period ends on December 10th, then is it possible to take the exam in between December 10 & Feb 10. Because, As I have started the preparations just few days back it wont be possible for me to take the exam before Dec 10'th. And also, I am not in a position to wait till Feb or March. Also, I not interested in taking the previous version of SCDJWS(1.4)the exam. Please give some suggestions.

Hello Prasanna !

You should better send a note to the contact from the announcement page (see the first post in this thread).

My answer is: the beta will be closed on December 10th, so you won't be able to take it between Dec 10th and Feb 10th.

After SCDJWS 5.0 exam goes into production (probably after Feb 10th) you will have to pay the regular price ($300 USD, as far as I remember).

regards,
MZ

Can a person take the same Beta exam again ? I know prometric would not stop someone from scheduling it. However, is it really going to be considered in the Sun evaluation ? I would think one can retake the exam just like other exams, however, since the evaluation is after a set period of time, not sure how the pass/fail status going to look like ?

"WhatsInAName",

There aren't many rules that you need to worry about here on the Ranch, but one that we take very seriously regards the use of proper names. Please take a look at the JavaRanch Naming Policy and adjust your display name to match it.

In particular, your display name must be a first and a last name separated by a space character, and must not be obviously fictitious.

Thanks!

To answer the question - no. Once the beta period ends, the exam is out of the "public eye" until it is introduced in approximately eight weeks (which may vary, to be honest - don't count on it being ready "on" February 10th, but probably it will be introduced sometime that month.

I asked to my local prometric centre (local being 4 hrs from me, in mexico city) and i was told that they couldn't book the examen for any later date than december 6th (tomorrow, so not the 10th for us mexicans).

I'd love to take the test but i have little to none preparation for it so i'll wait a year or so before buying the voucher.
