Jobs in Newzealand

Hi all,
Due to some personal reasons, I have to go and settle in newzealand. But I have no idea how is the job market in that country. I have total of close to 5 years exp, 2 yrs in Java and 3 years in SAP abap, webdynpro. Ofcourse I worked on Java close to 3 years ago. I need to update myself on that. When I searched the job websites there, every other job said, you should be authorized to work in newzealand. And I could hardly find any job for SAP abap/SRM/Webynpro things I have hands on experience.
Now I need to know two things
1.Is there any agent or any ways where i can get a sponserer employer who can help me get my work visa there.
2. What is it that I should upgrade myself w.r.t Java. the last things i have worked on are Java MBeans, Spring, Hibernate, Junit, Rational xde and XML. I was working on telecom domain so I dont have much exp on data base.

it is very tiny market and kind of things you describe are pretty hard to find there.

yeah!!.. I am getting the taste of it . Its been 3 months that I am here in Auckland and not a single call for my SAP skills. And java, I dont know J2EE so I am in a soup. I got one just one call for an SAP role, I did well in the interview, they said they would get back to me in 2 weeks, but it was 3 weeks no one called me, I called back the HR of that company and came to know that they called of that position and no one was hired for that. Being frustrated I called in a java job consultant and said.. Look I have 2 year of java exp, before 3 years (recent 3 yrs exp is SAP) and I understand thats too old an exp to lure the job market, I am taking up SCJP and then apply. But being a consultant do you get to see employers perfer certified candidates?. He just said for the current post that you called me for has requirements for 2 + years of exp. And I have good lot of candidates who are 3 years + and have worked on a lot of latest technologies. So I may not shortlist you.
Being frustrated I am looking for an online odd job, do some website development, freelancing etc.. I really donno a lot confused on where my career is heading.. java, sap, java certi.. round round....round.. in circles..
Again I understand that I am not asking any question, just a feel of relaxation expressing my problem.. after this post writeup.. I will get back to my scjp studies. BTW I am taking up scjp 1.5 in a month or so. Trying to get the benifit of SUN's retake exam offer.

Try to find a local Java Users Group, go to the meetings, talk to people, find what kind of interesting things they're doing, ask for suggestions...

Don't worry about accurate information. I would suggest you to try and narrow down your search on the websites. For Example, you need to search whether you are looking for Auckland jobs, hamilton jobs or Christchurch Jobs. Jobs in New Zealand are as satisfactory as the country is.
You can visit http://www.cvb.co.nz which will provide you good information that will definitely help you.
Its not only jobs in IT they have a good database of jobs in engineering, management and accounting as well.
