Asperger, and working in the dark

Those with Asperger Syndrome are known to be sensitive to bright light. I am one of those. I like working in a room that is a little darker. The worry is that many of my work colleagues tell me that working in the dark is bad for my eyesight. I wander if this applies to those who prefer the dark.
