Ganguly dropped again, what you guys feel about it? Considering his performance in 2nd test, I am surprised by the move :roll:

Even I am surprised. It was good performance, considering him.

I don't think he played good. He wasn't confident and apart from few shots, really looked out of place. He didn't get to bowl either so since, he was brought in as an "allrounder", it was a good move to drop him. Yuvraj deserves a run as a middle order batsman.

I wudn't say that he didn't play well....

whatever, but this is for sure that he faced this not because of his performance(good or bad)....this time his exclusion is related to board politics only and not a single other reason...

Jaffer deserves a spot on the team

Please don’t get emotional on the event of dropping Ganguly. Actually Guru (Dalmiya) and Chela (Ganguly) did lots of politics and groupism in past.

Someone has done same with Ganguly as what he and Dalmiya did with others in past.

Indian MP's were caught taking bribe for asking questions. I wonder how much money was involved in dropping Ganguly.

Dear Ganguly Supporters,



I know how you must be feeling. Wanted to tell you some facts and statistics.



1) In the year 1991 Ganguly made his debut in One Day Cricket as 17 Year Old. He played only one match against West Indies at Brisbane. In that he scored just 2 while fending one Yorker from Ambrose. He refused to take a single when Tendulkar hit the ball to third man as he was feared to face Ambrose. That time he was not even fit to play Club Cricket but he was selected to play for India. The reasons for his selection were of course non cricketing.

2) In the Year 1996, Ganguly was selected for England Tour ahead of so many deserving players like Vinod Kambli, Praveen Amre etc if you go by record in domestic cricket as criterion. He did scored couple of 100’s but his selection was certainly done for non cricketing reasons.

3) In the Year 2000 he was appointed Captain of Indian Cricket Team ahead of senior players like Tendulkar (Who refused in protest for Azhar’s inclusion), Azharuddin, Ajay Jadeja, Anil Kumble, Javagal Srinath, Sanjay Manjrekar, Navjyot Sidhu, Nayan Mongia and even Rahul Dravid. Though he turned out to be arguably the best captain India has ever produced but his appointment as captain was for non cricketing reasons.

4) In the year 2005 he was appointed as captain for Zimbabwe Cricket tour after Dravid did a fair job as captain for Sri Lankan Tour. Again the reasons were non cricketing.

5) Again in the same Year 2005 he was selected to play Test Matches purely as a player against Sri Lanka despite poor show in Test matches for last couple of years. His forte was One Day cricket but he was selected for Test Matches. He scored some runs in Delhi Test match but his selection was for non cricketing reasons.

6) On 14th December 2005, Ganguly is dropped from the Team after decent show in Delhi Test match. Clear injustice and reasons are certainly non cricketing.



As you can see from above chronology, in 5 out of 6 cases he was beneficiary of Board Politics. Ganguly should not complain about only the 6th Incidence.

You are right. This is pure politics. Pawar wants to show that he is more smarter than Dalmiya.

Just read on what Navjot Singh Sidhu has to comment on :

Yuvraj Singh has been great for Indian cricket. But according to Navjot Singh Sidhu it's been unfair on the part of a section of the media who have already started speculating that skipper Sourav Ganguly's position as a Test batsman will be under immense pressure after the brilliant hundred Yuvraj scored on a difficult wicket on Monday.

"Don't forget that players like Yuvraj and Harbhajan Singh have got the chance to prove themselves in the team because of Ganguly," Sidhu told this correspondent during the second day's play of the second Test here at the Gaddafi Stadium on Tuesday.

"Yuvraj is in the team because of whom? Ganguly," Sidhu said.

"Remember when the Chandigarh left-hander was almost down and out after a brilliant debut in the ICC Mini World Cup in 2000, it was Ganguly who fought with the selectors that they should give this talented young batsman some more time.

"That point of time it was the same media which was writing Yuvraj off. Now they want Ganguly to be replaced by Yuvraj. It's ridiculous," Sidhu observed.


"It's not fair to talk about Sourav's place in the Test team. How can you forget the hundred he scored in Brisbane when India were down at 62 for three in the first Test. That innings really lifted the spirit of the team. And because of that India could give such a brilliant Test performance in Australia," the former Indian opener opined.

"Not only that I will go into the extent that it is basically because of Sourav Ganguly and his aggressive leadership that India are a far better cricket team now then it was when Ganguly took over from Sachin Tendulkar in the early 2000," Sidhu said.

"In the last three years India have won seven overseas Test matches compared to the 13 wins the previous Indian teams have recorded outside India in more than 60 years. So the record is there for all to see," Sidhu explained.

Looking at the way the team management is experimenting, don't be surprised if you see Harbajan & Kumble open the innings in the next match.

India has a strong middle order batting line up. Jaffer is in his peak in domestic cricket, he has proved himself as a opener and good against pace.
He is there because he deserves to be there.


So now if you guys feel Ganguly should stay in the team, who do you think the selecters should Drop?
would be nice for some rational answers instead of impulsive ones.

Its really sad that Ganguly is facing this situation. And IMHO he is the most unluckiest heroes of Indian Sports. But this is not the first time this is happening. It has happened before with Azhar, Jadeja etc. Chill out BCCI.... National Heroes are human beings too. Even SA has accepted Gibbs & company. Everybody deserves a second chance. Look into past and learn from other Cricket Boards. ACB gave ample opportunities to Mark Taylor when he was facing the same situation. Yeah its true that Ganguly didnt produce a ton but he produced two valiant knocks at crucial times.

"Whether Ganguly stays in the team or not". This episode is ephemeral too...and will just leave some bad memories for avid cricket fans. But the prodigious lot which holds the potential of reigning the world will not be numero uno until these things change:
1.) Unnecessary Media Hype and their Inconsistent Reviews
2.) Selection Panel("Or a bunch of jokers"---Mohinder Amarnath)
3.) Politics at BCCI's top level.

Agarkar s performance is also pretty ordinary and he comes from Mumbai. So Pawar is picking up team from Mumbai. Dont be surprised if Vinod Kamble is also included.

Sharad Pawar has issued an statement he is shocked to hear Ganguly being dropped. He can tell this story to his grand childerns or in the Parliament. I am not going to believe this.

Sharad Pawar has issued an statement he is shocked to hear Ganguly being dropped. He can tell this story to his grand childerns or in the Parliament. I am not going to believe this.

I wish Chetan reads this. I wonder why BCCI Management and Selectors tries to sideline someone who has performed and contributed to the upliftment of Indian Cricket.

Be honest. Many are performing in Ranji series. Rohan Gavaskar played a very crusial role in Bengal vs Mumbai ties. He scored 154. He should have been offered a place in Indian Squad. Why Jaffer. Reason is simple.

And especially considering that he and the president of BCCI are from same state.
