My desktop.
What were you thinking?

Show us your desktop.
Give us a glimpse of a typical day in the life of a Java Programmer.
What does your environment look like?
Post a screenshot if you can.

@B Sathish
You have to upload the image file to some web server which doesn't prevent hotlink. We cannot see the image stored in your local machine.

Here's the desktop of my windows box:

@EFH - Nope - that Gnome desktop looks wide - is that running at 1920X1600?

It's KDE at 1920x1200. The monitor is Samsung SyncMaster 240T -- quite the shizzle when I got it some years back. The OS is Fedora Core 3 -- I need to upgrade, maybe after the holidays.

[EFH]: Do you people really all use Windows?

I don't want to use windows, but some school projects require something like "M$ Visio" (ach, give me a break), "M$ Project" (give me another break, I just don't grok it)...they are just windows-only. And for now the google earth and google desktop are also windows-only but I really like these two applications....Microsoft Reader is a nice thing, there are many good free ebooks in MS Reader format available from Universities and the reader really reads with a voice engine plugin.

I have SuSE 9.2 pro installed in the same box, somehow the Oracle 10g client doesn't run right under it, haven't found out how to tweak yet but I need the Oracle thing for my homework....thus the windows desktop....

What I actually meant was, "what does your desktop usually look like during the day? (dirty laundry and all)".
Here's mine (click for full size):

I typically keep 3 xterm windows running.
The leftmost one (transparent with green text) usually has two tabs going.
One tails the log for the app I work on and the other watches the packets using tcpflow.
The second xterm window is for editing JSPs (I edit with VIM).
The third is for editing the JavaBeans and Servlets.
As you can see I use Firefox but in order to make sure MSIE users are seeing something close to what FF shows me, I use rdesktop to get to a winders box in the office.
In FF, I keep links to J2SE 1.4, J2EE 1.4, and JDK1.5 APIs in the personal folder. The PDFs for the Servlet, JSP, and JSTL specs are on the desktop all the way to the right.
I have NetBeans and Eclipse on the machine but still haven't been able to make the switch to being an IDE developer.
The screens for my music software usually live on another desktop (you can have multiple desktops running with Gnome or KDE) so they don't get in the way when I'm working.

But since everyone's showing just the wallpaper, mine is a copy of the noaa nautical chart of Boston Harbor.
