I took my
SCJP 1.4 back in Jun 2005 (86%). Hadn't really used much
Java 5/6 features except for Generics in Collections, so recently got a copy of the S&B SCJP 6 book to bone up on what I'd been missing (thanks Hitesh!). Through total luck, two days after receiving the book, a friend told me he had an "extra" exam chit he wasn't going to use that he gave me in mid December, but it expired today, so I signed up for the SCJP6 upgrade exam and scheduled it for today.
Since I was taking the upgrade exam, I erroneously thought that it would focus mostly on the new features of 5/6, so that is where I concentrated most of my studies, but to my surprise, very few of the questions actually were 5/6 specific, there were many more "fundamentals/core Java" questions that I expected.
I got two drag-n-drop questions, and one question with four checkboxes where the instructions were to "pick the best answers" -- It was my understanding that for multi-answer questions we would always be told how many correct answers there were, but this question left it wide open. There also weren't quite as many "gotcha" questions as I expected either (i.e. questions where they pretend to be
testing you on subsets of TreeSets but really are hoping you won't notice that they didn't make the main function static in the example).
So, I know have a head full of 5/6 specifics that I didn't get quizzed on, and fulfilled my goal of catching up to what's been going on in J2SE since 1.4... :-)
