i am useing tomcat 5.X resently for performance groath i am config server.xml&web.xml for database pooling is it possible implement database pooling in tomcat5.X with out touching the server.xml file or any other server files ,by only webapplication files useing?if it possible please give complete congigration detail

You can't configure database pooling in the web application configuration files and have Tomcat manage the pool for you.
You can, however, create your own pool in your application and use it. Tomcat uses DBCP. I've seen DBPool in use as well.
Choose a pool and either configure it with the pool-specific configuration or use your web application config files to specify initialization parameters then programmatically configure the pool.
