Booing someone is absolutely sick and unprofessional. Even if he is not good enough to be in the team right now, booing a person who has been a national hero for so long is absolutely disgusting.

Maybe our very own image server Chetan will post Sachin's picture soon so that you know how does he really look like!

It depends on how you see the fan. If they are a paying customer who has gone to watch the game to be entertained, then it could be justified for them to boo. On the other hand, if they are going to the game to support the team, then booing is less good.Originally posted by Ulf Dittmer:
Sports fans will boo at a player, or a coach, or a manager, whenever they feel like it. If that is disgusting behavior, then the vast majority of sports viewers all over the world are guilty of it at one time or another.

That's exactly the problem. It is we who make them Gods and blame them the same way we blame our Gods when things doesn't go as we expect. They are players and everything will be fine if we treat them as players instead of immortals.

I don't know if its the same in different sports, but many football players I've read interviews from about this subject say that fans who support the team help to boost the performance of the team. In the UK we often call the fans the "12th player" for that reason.Originally posted by Manish Hatwalne:
I think booing is not all that bad after all -- it gives glimpse of raw public emotions to the player; and any self respecting player should be motivated after that.
Absolutely. No sports player is a god or a devil, no matter what they do.
Going beyond booing (as it happemned in case of Ravi Shastri) and deification should be avoided though.

shame on the so called fans who booed..
Sachin *is* the greatest cricket player of all time. period.
He was.
It's always a sad thing when a great athlete is no longer a great athlete. (North American readers: see Michael Jordan or Mark Messier.) Some people know when it's time to quit, but it sounds to me like Sachin didn't.
