Hi

can any one advice on developing a service for returning a file , i am currently using eclipse 3.1 for creating a the web service.

I presume that means that you are using Axis 1.x as your SOAP web service stack.
It comes with the axis/samples/attachments sample service which demonstrates the use of attachments.
EchoAttachment.java
EchoAttachmentsService.java

thanks peer , i placed both the files in a package named samples.attachments but i am getting compilation error due to missing

samples.attachments.TestRef can you send that too so that i can test with EchoAttachment.java

  • Those files are part of the standard Axis 1.x distribution. You shouldn't have to download anything.
  • The above files are served by a subversion server that has all the other files http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/webservices/axis/trunk/java/samples/attachments/
