Hi All:

I have decided to take the SCJP 6 exam and am ll set with required books and s/w to get started preparing for the exam. While reading the first few pages of the KS and BB book, I have come to know about this forum. Many of you might have already passed the SCJP exam. I would be grateful to you guys if you can give me any helpful suggestions like:

1. How to prepare?? or What sort of approach to follow?
2. Approximately how many days does it take to prepare for the exam considering decent programming experience in OOPs and C++?
3. I would be thankful to you if you can provide me any material or redirect me to any useful websited regarding the SCJP exam.

Thanks in Advance.

There are plenty of people on these boards who are new to Java and have completed the exam. They all generally follow the same pattern. Read Banu's reply in this thread:

2. Approximately how many days does it take to prepare for the exam considering decent programming experience in OOPs and C++?

Those two topics are advantageous but it will all depend on how quickly you learn and how well your memory retention is. Read the K&B study guide and then do mock exams. Reading the book (and remembering what is in it) is the longest part as the book is very pedantic.

3. I would be thankful to you if you can provide me any material or redirect me to any useful websited regarding the SCJP exam.
