What for this 2500/- INR Employment Tax???

Yeah I read such article/news in TOI few days back. I will be a stupid step. Better government try to cope corruption � it will save lots of money.

We are alreay paying 2500Rs Professional Tax every year (200 per month and 300 in the last month) but now govt. plans to increase it to 7500Rs

I haven't seen this deduction in my salary any time.. will that be deductable now.. to whom this tax is payable... could any one throw some light on this topic....???

If I am not wrong, the Union Government has increase the upper limit of a professional tax collected by State Government. Now the ball is in the court of State Governments.

So now onwards who will have to pay this one.. are that us who have to pay this tax or our organization is going to pay this tax....??

Its strange that you have never paid this tax.
Every month Rs.200 gets deducted from my salary as Professional Tax. I am sure same is the case with everyone else too!!

If the tax increases to 7500 from the current 2500, we will be paying it from our salaries of course!

No Anjali I haven't seen any deduction like this... in my salary slip..

I think that there may be some limits for this tax...
may be e.g. If salary package is more then 5 Lakhs/Anum then only this tax is payable.. is that so???

Maharastra Government has not increase the tax yet; hence I am getting deduction as per the earlier tax slab(200 Rs). I am not aware of other states.

No, there is no such limit.

I am paying it since my first salary.

There is no exception to the rule of paying professional tax AFAIK!!

Yes, the tax has not been increased yet but the talks are on..
