Eric, why don't you like their music? I think the combination of rock with traditional indian instruments makes for great listening. The tunes for many of the songs that I have listened to are very good - and I don't think I have come across very many non-Indian bands that get their pronunciation of Sanskrit chants so well..
A band I used to play in back in the mid 90's did a couple of Kula Shaker covers... We played around the Hampshire/Dorset area between Farnborough, Basingstoke, Andover and Salisbury - so figured their song "303" was a good one for us as we seemed to spend our life driving up and down the A303 (the road upon which the song was based)..
Didnt realise they were still a going concern... I thought they were a one-album wonder.... (Good to hear otherwise! )
