How did you change timeout if it is still show the same 45 seconds? What environment are you using?

Where exactly to change to increase the Tomcat timeout (I assume is the default) value from 45?

Note: this is not the session timeout value .... but the timeout referred to in this error....

>>Server Tomcat v6.0 Server at localhost was unable to start within 45 seconds. If the server requires more time, try increasing the timeout in the server editor.

It's an Eclipse setting. But changing it doesn't help as Tomcat starts within a couple seconds, but for some reason Eclipse doesn't recognize that and times out. Or at least that's what I've been able to tell.

Lars ,

in this case you need to install the eclipse again from it's site then unzip it , then work with a fresh installation

Thanks. So a "real" full installation is required (Eclipse + Tomcat). I think that is a little bit to extreme. I'll try to work on this issue with my friends from Eclipse and hope that we find a simpler solution.

But thank you for advice; I'll try your suggestion. In case I find a simpler solution I'll post it to this thread.

Starting Eclipse with -clean worked for me.

I have summerized how to analyse the problem in a small blog entry which can be found here:

Apache Tomcat 6.0 Server Unable to Start.
