I was wondering if the server series/model no. need to be mentioned in the deployment diagram for Part 2?

Lookup Deployment diagram in UML.
You need to adhere to UML standards else sun will simply fail you without looking at your solution

Are you asking if part of your job in architecting the solution is to recommend hardware?

It's up to you. But I don't think it's your role to suggest hardware to the client. Remember, showing too much detail can indicate that you're not sure about your solution or where to focus your energy.
