I am looking for a handy PDA/Smartphone for my personal use around INR 16000 (USD 400-450)) or so.

Here is what I need to do with my PDA/phone -

(1) Lots of SMS memory & good quality music (I own Sony w700 now, so...) and user friendly call/address book UI. (I like the one on my sony w700)
(2) A decent camera, don't need autofocus but should be at least 2 MP camera.
(3) Emails, I need to access my mails - so it must be having good email supprt.
(4) Internet browsing, acceessing important sites when I am on the move and ability to view documents.
(5) I am yet undecided whether I should go for QWERTY keybord or use touchscreen/stylus - I haven't used touchscreen phone, so not sure about my comfort level. If it's a QWERTY keybord, I'd prefer it sliding in instead of showing up like E 61.
(6) It must be having user friendly UI. I am in love with sony UI in general and Nokia is god as well.
(7) It should look good (not likeNokia E61) and should be portable enough to carry in a trouser pocket.

I have already ruled out E61 & MotoMing. I used Motorola V3i and did't like UI, an it stored only 30 SMS. Hated phone functionality though loved the way it was built & looked.

So what options do I have?? I can increase my budget a bit if needed. How are those new HTC phones? How's D 600? HTC S 710? How's iMate?? HP iPAQ?? Is Nokia E65 available in India? Any other suggestions?

Any first hand inputs of people actully using PDA phones - is Symbian better than Windows Mobile OS?

Your inputs will be highly appreciated!!

TIA,
- Manish

Well, I don't know if this counts as a PDA, but I use a blackberry 8800, which is kept in-sync with my company's exchange server. I like it.

Which phone to buy is a good forum for phone related queries. Sadly, it seems down right now.

You can try out (in no particular order):
i) N73 (smart phone, Symbian) ~ 15k
ii) ROKR E6 (music PDA Touch Screen phone, linux based) ~ 14k
iii) SE P990i (PDA phone with QWERTY, symbian UIQ) ~ 18k (not sure)

What are you saying? I thought you said that Santa gave you that. And this tiny ad:
