I have heard of scalability issues with a few applications where Hibernate is used. Please let me know in case anyone has faced any such issues. Also, please let me know of the possible cause for this.
Under the covers, Hibernate translates its queries into JDBC calls, and JDBC is highly scalable.
I've seen many people write really bad JDBC code and create scalability problems. I'm sure the same can happen with Hibernate. But when used properly in a well architected solution, Hibernate will not be your bottleneck.
