Thompson Technologies is in search of highly talented Software Architect for our client, a global manufacturing and technology company. In this role, you will specify and develop major new systems and products. This is a full-time / permanent opening located in Marietta / Atlanta, GA.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides technical leadership in state-of-the-art technology
Has background in application of advanced Web, Business Intelligence & IT technologies to building automation or process controls and systems and is knowledgeable in process control theory, methods, and standards.
Is fully knowledgeable about current and emerging Web, Business Intelligence & IT technologies, in particular as it relates to Enterprise software and Software as a Service (SaaS).
Participates in technical associations and committees working in digital control technology and applications.
Makes frequent customer contacts to maintain proficiency in emerging customer approaches and requirements.
Takes part in technical presentations and panel discussions at trade shows and seminars pertinent to the process control industry.
Demonstrates organization skills by:
Proposing new programs, generating specifications, providing cost data, and development schedules.
Working with technology, marketing and other management people to insure that the specified product meets building automation industry requirements and company goals for
profit, return on investment and return on capital.
Identifying unique program requirements relating to people, equipment and costs.
Assuring that specified products meet both domestic and international requirements for standards and safety.
Writing timely reports and maintaining complete records which documents progress and problems while providing a basis for patent disclosures.
Interacts with all levels of the corporate structure by:
Conducting technical design reviews which result in products which can be transferred to operations and manufactured profitably.
Participating in design reviews and the analysis of the technical feasibility of products and systems from other groups and divisions.
Imparting technical skills and knowledge to other groups which aids them in developing competitive products.
Identifying redundant development activities and suggesting alternatives.
Maintaining an ongoing dialogue with Product Planning to aid them in identifying and defining products which fit into Process Management's business plans.
Provides work direction to other engineers. Performs other technical, supervisory, and administrative assignments as required.
Requirements:
BS in Engineering, Computer Science or technical equivalent and ten (10) years related experience in design or design related activities with building automation or process control or MS in Engineering, Computer Science and nine (9) years related experience.
Solid
Java /
J2EE and Oracle experience.
In-depth understanding of EAI / middleware.
Demonstrated administrative capabilities and ability to function with significant latitude.
Ability to work effectively with management peers and with other professionals outside of the development group.
Recognized within the company and in the industry as a qualified consultant in a specialty field.
Desired:
Experience using, JavaScript,
JDBC,
Struts and other open source software.
Experience with RIA (Flash, Silverlight).
Experience with Business Intelligence software.
Experience with Star Team or other revision control software.
Experience with the development of software applications using modern software development techniques, e.g. UML and object oriented development techniques.
