After doing swing contracting for a number of years and seeing how IT groups have screwed up the code and made the ugliest gui's, I want to create my own apps and monetize them on the web. Can anyone give examples where someone is making money on the web with JavaFX? I want to stay out of those corporate cubicles of possible. I've decided to blaze this new trail with JavaFX and need all of the inspiration I can get.

Thanks,
Harry

Thanks for the link to the Java store. The store is still in beta and I didn't see any apps for sale. When it allows me to sell apps I will join. For now though, I would like to see JavaFX apps that have made money on the web. The issue for me is that I love JavaFX but I still have to support my family. Working full time doesn't leave much time for JavaFX, so it becomes a hobby. With three small children I don't have much time for hobbies. Seeing other people's success stories makes my goal more tangible and motivates me to work a little harder when I feel like slacking off.

I doubt you will find any at this point. Javafx is still really new and has a ways to go before we start seeing real aps pop up. If that ever happens. You could always be the first.

Hi Harry,

If you're asking whether or not JavaFX could be used to make money on the web, the answer is yes.

But making money on the web depends on having a product that people want, whether it be a game or a web site that people visit, or an application that people can run on their desktop or from their mobile phone.

JavaFX mobility is still in its infancy as far as application distribution.

There are any number of applications that can be written using web services, for example.

The trick is writing the next great killer app, whether it be a facebook app, a mobile phone app, or an internet-based app.

I believe JavaFX would be a great technology to have in a programmer's toolbox. I've told others and repeat to you. Try it and see how you like it. The learning curve is not that steep!

And don't forget, Sun is targeting JavaFX for the tv platform down the road, so there could be some revenue opportunities there.
