Currently we host some of our application on a zLinux server located on the mainframe. We already have Websphere App Server, ESB, Message Broker and Virtual Servers on z/Linux.
In the future we would like to host Web Services on a Windows or Linux server not in a zOS environment(because of limited skillset and other cost factors).

The web-service are to be considered mission critical, with emphasis on:
  • RAS- Reliability, Availability and Serviceability
    High Level of Security
    Disaster Recovery

  • Given the above detailis can anyone tell me the pros and cons, and the areas to be examined for having Web service on a Windows or Linux server.

    Thanks in advance.
