So if you had US$270 what is the geekiest gadget/thing you would buy? I have a point for the amount which I'll make clear after I hear some thoughts.

An iPhone! (Plus the $700+ you'll pay in 2 years to AT&T)... or a really expensive hand-made guitar hero wireless controller

That's about the price range for an entry-level oscilloscope. Can't be a real geek without one!

I'd get the Time/Life collection of the best of Playboy's Pet of the Month videos.

Oh wait... I just put my glasses on. It looked like Greek'iest

$700 over 2 years !! .... Ahhhh.... That actually sounds cheap. I pay $100 per month to AT&T, and that's to put my BlackBerry on the voice and data plan.

Oh wait I was doing the math wrong... that's how much if you want to add a line to a family plan (30x24). The plan itself though is much more.

Do you mean "buy and use" or just "buy"?

I can think of a bunch of geeky stuff with embedded systems, ZigBee, motion sensors, etc that you could get for $700. but I don't think they would be very useful. High geek, cool, but not very useful.

I'm not even sure what you can buy that is high in geek factor for a grand.

Don't get me started about those stupid light bulbs.
