is there scjd exam with j2se 6 , i want to take scjd exam so which jdk i have to use i was using jdk 5.

currently both 5 and 6 are fine. Most people use 6.

There is a 18-month period for using what version of jdk. Eg say jdk5 release in Jan2008 and jdk6 in Jan2009. By Jul2010 (18 month since jdk6 release) jdk5 will obsolete.

Throughout this exercise, you must use exclusively the Java 2 platform. You may develop your code using any implementation of the Java 2 platform, but the submission that you return must have been tested and shown to work under a production (not development) version of the Sun Microsystems' Java 2 platform and that platform must not have been superseded by a new production version for more than 18 months by the time you make your submission.

how much it cost to resubmit assignment if some one fails some topic? is it affects score?

Champion, there's no need to worry. That's why we are here, to help each other. It's likely that you'll have lots of doubts during the development, and you'll be able to find the answers to most of your questions here. I'd say it's harder than SCWCD, for instance. For this certification, you'll have to develop a client-server system, which involves Threads, server APIs (such as RMI), Swing, and how you divide your application, in terms of architecture. In my opinion, this is one of the best Java certifications, along with SCEA.

Regarding resubmission, if you are not able to get a score of 320 points, you'll have to fix the problems listed in the report (which Sun will provide you after grading your assignment) for resubmission. In this case, it will cost you another voucher.

ok I have prepare my mind for toughness but how much time it takes to complete assignment. if one will do it with dedication.

The time limit is 1 year from the time you download the assignment.

If you are doing the assignment day in day out like a full time job and "do know what you are doing" 2 months are all you really need. It took me about 3 months or so full time. I was learning while I did the assignment. So if I knew say RMI, polishing or refreshing the concepts would shorten my time spent.

If you have a job and not doing java or simply doing java but not client/server (eg swing, rmi, stuff), then at least 6 months is my estimate.

Oh another factor is when you are finally done, you will ask yourself, "Will this score full marks for xxx section?" Now this is the time people refactor, improve, mess up, rebuild, redesign ... you name it making the time spent even longer.
