Hey,
Do you think the MacBook Air is a good laptop for a developer?
I'm a Java/Python developer.
What do you think?
I can't afford a MacBook Pro now, since I'm planning to get a guitar too

As the MacBook Air is more expensive than the MacBook Pro, how can you not have the funds for a Pro, but have it for the Air?

If you're budget-conscious, you should be just fine with a less expensive MacBook.

I just thought the same thing. I have a MacBook 13", which I got in January, the newer current MacBook 13" are now Pros, and definitely cost less than an Air. I think though the new air is cheaper than the 15" Macbook Pro.

Anyway, one of the guys at my work got an Air and is doing development. It doesn't matter which Mac you get, they are all great for development.

Last I knew, the Air had no CD/DVD drive in it, and far fewer connectors than a Pro. All else being equal, it strikes me as an inferior choice for development for those reasons -- depending on the kind of development you do, anyway.

I can't live with 13 inch laptop, I spent most of my day with a laptop and 13 inch screen is definitly a killer for me.
Any way, I cancelled the Air, the lack of the connectors and the unreplacable battery are stoppers for me.
Seems I'm going to spend more money for the guitar.

Just one more nail in the coffin for you: the air has a 13" screen as well.

Consider Paul's rocket mass heater.
