Exalted Sir/Madam,

My tomcat is working fine but in log file am seeing three of the following warnings.

Aug 23, 2009 6:39:00 AM org.apache.tomcat.util.digester.Digester endElement
WARNING: No rules found matching 'Server/Service/Engine/Host/Logger'.

Aug 23, 2009 6:39:00 AM org.apache.tomcat.util.digester.SetPropertiesRule begin
WARNING: [SetPropertiesRule]{Server/Service/Engine/Host/Context} Setting property 'debug' to '0' did not find a matching property.

Aug 23, 2009 6:39:00 AM org.apache.catalina.core.AprLifecycleListener init
INFO: The APR based Apache Tomcat Native library which allows optimal performance in production environments was not found on the java.library.path: /usr/java/jdk1.6.0_14/jre/lib/i386/server:/usr/java/jdk1.6.0_14/jre/lib/i386:/usr/java/jdk1.6.0_14/jre/./lib/i386/usr/java/packages/lib/i386:/lib:/usr/lib

Please check my attached log file and help me to resolve them

Thanks & best regards

You can safely ignore all 3 of these messages. I think the first one is because you attempted to use an obsolete logging definition in server.xml and the second one probably refers to the same definition.

The third message is just a reminder that there's a binary accelerator available to improve Tomcat's performance. For most of us, it's not worth the trouble to set up the accelerator, however.

Thanks for your reply

I am not clear about that. Can you please be more specific.

Thanks again & best regards

According to the message, that statement isn't valid directly under a <Host> directive.

Great! One error "Aug 23, 2009 6:39:00 AM org.apache.tomcat.util.digester.Digester endElement
WARNING: No rules found matching 'Server/Service/Engine/Host/Logger'."
removed now these two of the following errors left:

Thanks from the bottom of my heart
Please advise me about these 2 errors

The first one should be coming from a <Context> element that has "debug="0"" coded on it. You should remove that.

The second one is only a warning in the sense that it's telling you that you could improve the performance of Tomcat by installing the binary support module. However, if you do that, it will require you to go to a lot of useless trouble and you may find that it causes other problems, including adding extra work to keep Tomcat maintained. Unless you absolutely require the extra performance, you shouldn't waste time on that. And if you do require that extra performance, chances are that you are already in trouble and need to do some tuning. Note also that the message says "in production environments". Test machines shouldn't be worrying about getting an extra 10% in performance.

In a perfect world, we'd be able to shut messages like that off. But this isn't a perfect world.
