drawing 3d shapes?

i know how to draw 2d shapes but how would i draw 3d shapes?

ive tried using g.draw3DRect() but it just outputs a normal 2d rectangle not 3d? any suggestions?

No normal Java Swing API gives you the power for drawing 3D boxes, try Sun's Java3D project. There is a good site dedicated for Java 3D: java3d.org.

Also, I found there is minimal resource available out there for Java 3D and there are less people hang around here and at forum.sun.com with Java3D knowledge. Ask your questions at there original project site, i.e at: http://forums.java.net/jive/forum.jspa?forumID=70
