Hi
The difference between the two versions is not much. Is your exam date flexible? If not, stay cool and go ahead with 310-055.

There are two types of SCJP exams, first time exam and upgrade exams. The 310-056 exam is for those who are already SCJP. If you are not SCJP, then you can take either 310-055 (SCJP 5) and 310-065 (SCJP 6). I would recommend going for SCJP 6 but for that you'll need a couple of days study. The difference between SCJP 5 and 6 is given here...

Well, not enough time and options available.. go for SCJP 5. Take a break, and come back for SCJP 6 in a month or so.

To make it clear: 310-056 is not an "upgraded version" of 310-055.

310-055 is the full SCJP 5 exam.

310-056 is the SCJP 5 upgrade exam. It is only for people who are already SCJP certified, but with an older version, and who want to update their certificate to SCJP 5 level. If you have never done the SCJP before, then this exam is not for you - you should do 310-055.

310-065 is the full SCJP 6 exam.

310-066 is the SCJP 6 upgrade exam, similar to 310-056. You must be already SCJP certified (with an older version) to be eligible for this exam.

My advice: Do the 310-065 (full SCJP 6 exam). There's really no reason to do the older SCJP 5 exam instead of SCJP 6. The difference between SCJP 5 and 6 is only small.
