SCBCD or SCWCD first ?

Hi Ranchers ,

I need an advice regarding SCBCD and SCWCD.
I had completed SCJP5.0 . I would now like to gain some knowledge on the J2EE technologies as well. However, I am confused whether to start with SCBCD or SCWCD.
Does SCBCD need any prior knowledge on the technologies that will be covered in SCWCD or I can start learning the concepts of SCBCD directly?

I have gone straight forr the SCBCD, they cover different aspects and you don't need to obtain SCWCD to understand EJB. Take an advice from someone that was completely new to J2EE technologies (me, ).

Which one interests you more?

Do you enjoy development of Front End applications (web based), interacting with the user and establishing the process flow
or do you prefer poking around at the business/database level, where all the business logic happens?

I enjoy working on business logic , building code around that and hence I was looking at SCBCD itself.
However, from the forums I see many ranchers completing SCWCD and then moving to SCBCD. So I wanted to find out if the information gained in SCWCD is required for SCBCD or not? Since I am new to the J2EE terminology completely, I wanted to get some advices on this before starting with SCBCD.
Any suggestions/ advice is much appreciated.

Hi Lokesh,

As you can tell from my sig, I'm one of the people who did SCWCD before SCBCD.
I had no experience in either, and the company I was with at the time did a fair few Web Applications, so that's why I did that one first.

I would suggest that SCWCD would give you an understanding of what a Container is and how it works, and being web based it is very easy to knock up very visual examples. You'd learn the same concept in SCBCD, but I'm not sure if it would be so clear there.

My advice is the same as earlier though - follow whichever interests you more-so, as there's nothing worse than slogging through page after page of something you aren't all that interested in.
