Hi folks,

I'm going to use JSF technology for the 1st time in my application and now I'm learning it. As I go through some articles and tutorials I came to know that developers have been using rich JSF components provided by several JSF frameworks. As I have not used them before, I want you to share your experience on them.

I came across following list of JSF component libraries.

1. IceFaces
2. Apace MyFaces
3. ZK

Can you folks tell me the pros and cons of above mentioned (or even not mentioned, please write them) component libraries? I know that no one will be able to reply me, if I ask, what is the best library to be used. As I don't have much time to dig each and every framework into deep, please share your previous experience on them and make a recommendation.

Thanks in advance, folks.

If you need rock-solid stuff skip ZK in your list ;-).

Well, to be honest ZK has a bad reputation because of their permanent marketing tactics to put in some FUD, especially against ICEfaces:

http://ria.dzone.com/articles/zk-vs-ajax-jsf-components-simp-0

http://ria.dzone.com/articles/performance-report-server-side

And the answer:
http://ria.dzone.com/articles/icefaces-performance-report

Please, have a detailed look at the comments of the articles. These are often more important than the texts ;-).

I never used ZK. But, what I understand from others the ICEfaces programming model is much leaner.

Hi Rainer,

Yes, I have already read the articles that you had pointed out.

I can't ask you to point out some resources to get started with IceFaces, as you have already published a book (most awaiting) under the topic..

Thank you very much for your reply.

Nevertheless, I ask you to have a look at my ICElocator.
