Hi Ranchers,

I am in half a dilemma if I should go for lower level certifcations like SCWCD or SCBCD or just take up SCEA.

I have 3 1/2 years of experience in JEE and have done SCJP.

I wanted to know with this experience how difficult would it be for me to become an SCEA? and is this the right time for me to take up an SCEA.

Regards

If you go to the certification main page

http://www.sun.com/training/catalog/courses/CX-310-052.xml

and read the following text:

This exam is for enterprise architects responsible for architecting and designing Java Platform, Enterprise Edition technology-compliant applications that are scalable, flexible, and highly secure. This exam is designed for candidates with experience in the following areas (typically 5 or more years: Application design: concepts and principles, common architectures, integration and messaging, business-tier technologies, web-tier technologies, Java EE technology, patterns and security.

Then you should get your answer.

Thanks John for the reply. I was actually looking for generic opinions on whether to go for a SCWCD or SCBCD before taking up SCEA. Though there are no pre requisites for SCEA i have heard that taking up other cert's before SCEA is the way to go. Since this is THE place for SCEA's i thought i can get some opinion's here. Obviously I don have 5 years of exp as mentioned and hence wanted to know if taking it up with my background would be right.

Will go through the link for sure. Thanks

OMG .. I have 2 yr 5 months experience and I am planning to take this exam (need to prepare ).. Collin,I would suggest you to finish this certifications (SCBCD & SCDJWS), though its not mandatory, but it helps you to gain more knowledge..

Those who have exp more than 5 years can take this exam (as John suggested), its not mandatory and its purely your fondness to seize this certification or not.. Please don't muddle up your talent with experience. Don’t take it (exp) has an obstacle instead take it as an challenge..

Experienced as well as SCEA Certified aspirant, please provide your valuable suggestions for this issue..

Note:
If I acquired SCEA certification, that doesn't mean that I am a good architect. It helps\guide me to divide the problems into sub problems (which design pattern I have to apply) and it helps me to think like an architect….
But if you’re an experienced person and already came across this problem\issue, then its easy to resolve the issue (which patterns have to be applied and you will know the reason why we need to apply this pattern).
