Hi!
A good way to obtain a firm foundation of knowledge regarding web services is preparing for, and taking, the SCDJWS certification.
I spent little more than a year preparing for the certification, while also working full time.
Requirements: Knowledge about servlets and EJBs is helpful to understand the inner workings of web service. If you have experience of using XML and/or web services in any form, even better!
Best wishes!
