JSF v1.2: Pass total figure into bean for generation of pages

I have this bean:

And I have a separate class called DAOData which has a getCount() method that returns an integer value of the total number of pages calculated based on selected options on a form. I don't know how to pass the total pages from getCount() into PageBean's getSelectPages() method above. Can someone help? I'm planning to use PageBean as a common bean for three of my forms so I'm trying to keep it generic as much as possible.

Also, if I navigate from page A to B and back, can I use the same method to regenerate the page counter for page A. Been stuck on this problem for nearly a week now.
