I am having 4.5 yr of exp in java/J2EE devlopment proj .I am very strong in java and have done 3 certification also (SCJP,SCWCD and SCDJWS), m looking for job change since last 4 months and having an offer from [a company] of 7 , I tried in all the big IT comapny in mumbai , not getting more than 7 .
As per Javaranch policy you can not discuss on companies.
Accepting offer depends on what you are looking in your new job. If you want more money (more than 7L) from your new job you should not accept the offer and look for better offer. But if you have other priorities and you should decide on the offer based weightage of your priorities. In my opinion 7L is not bad for your experience.
My first priority is work ,This will be my second company and I dont like to change company before 3-4 yr, so wanted to know growth prospects in this company.
I came to know from others that they dont increase package after joining till 2 years. is it true ?
Yes that is true it will take time to revise your package in new company, even if it is revised in few days it will be minimal. Better to bargain on salary before joining.
I removed the name of the company from your post. As specified in the New Guidelines in Job Discussion we do not allow discussions on specific companies here. I believe this topic can continue without knowing the name of the company.
-- Look at non-monetary benefits like opportunity to learn sought-after technologies, opportunity to grow within the company, business-acumen of the organization, opportunity to work with high-calibre people (for example, more comprehensive interview), any other aspects that are inline with your career objectives.
Is Mumbai a constraint for you ? Or are you open to Pune as well ?
In Pune, you have lots of options and with an experience of 4.5 years, you can esily expect above 8 (There are companies who'll pay you in the range 9-10 as well)
In Mumbai, the best payers are the investment banks. With 4.5 years of experience in Java/Java EE, a senior developer role in most of the investment banks will fetch you around 9-10 easily (can go higher depending on how your interview goes)
Certifications: SCJP (2005), SCWCD (2006), OCA (2006), WAS Admin (2007), SCBCD (2008), SCJD (2009), SCDJWS(2009)
yes Mumbai is a constraint for me, My family is here.
I had forwarded my resume in one investment bank last month, but didn't get any reply. As I have already resigned so cant wait for more than 2-3 weeks.
Today I got a new Offer of 7.5L and this company is better than the previos one. so thinking of accepting the offer :-)
That is a really big piece of pie for such a tiny ad:
