I like to blog but presently I cannot enter the 2nd harddrive on my FujitsuSiemens computer with Windows Xp.

My first harddrive is broken.

I got a blue screen with messages so I formatted the harddrive.

Hopefully what was formatted was the second harddisk, but I'm not sure of that.

My internetconnection is ok, but my internetprovider has no clue how to enter the 2nd harddisk.

Maybe somebody has had the same problem?

Thanks!

Phillippe, welcome to Java Ranch!

I also hope you did not reformat your XP system drive or you will have to reinstall.

To get your computer to boot into the other drive, go into your BIOS and change the boot order of your hard drives. In my BIOS this option is under Advanced BIOS Options. Save the setting and the machine will reboot. If there is an OS on the second drive, and if it has a valid Master Boot Record, it will boot up.

If there is no valid Master Boot Record, follow these instructions: http://www.techzonez.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-3975.html

Thanks for your nice reply, Peter! :-)

It's really of great help, and hopefully I will be able to get my computer back to normal.

Hi again Peter! :-)

I changed to the correct harddrive in the bios.

This whole problem really started when I got a blue screen with the message: "insurmountable boot volume".

Now I get a new odd message: "NTLDR is missing" press ctrl + alt + del.

But I still cannot get into my second harddrive.

Is there a way to delete the first harddrive?

Is the best solution to this problem to buy a new harddisk?

Thanks!

If you don't have a clue it's alright. :-)

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I think that you reformatted the drive that had Windows on it.

Here is what I would do.

First, I would verify what I have. I would do this by booting a Linux live CD. Once it came up I would use the file manager to verify what was on my hard drives. If my Windows partition is still there, I would use the repair function of the Windows installation disk to repair the NTLDR. If my Windows partition was not there, I would reinstall Windows on the empty (reformatted) disk.

Of course, if you can't get a Linux live CD or are not comfortable enough with Linux (though using the live CD is really very easy), then just installing Windows on the empty disk will get you up and running again. Once up, you can see that is on the disk you did not reformat.

Thanks for your kind reply, Peter!

Actually, I went to a computer repair center with my harddrive today.

Hopefully they will fix the problem.

Maybe they will change a hard disk.

Thanks for all your help anyway.
