The primary responsibility for the Oracle DBA will be to support the existing Oracle clusters primarily in the areas of performance, recovery, installation and design. This DBA will own the Oracle administration for various OLTP and OLAP projects. Responsibilities will include generating scripts for database creation and installation and generating persistent data, recovery techniques and installation procedures, as well as performance, design improvements and documentation.
Provides Operations and Engineering support to a complex, high availability computing environment.
Ownership of all Oracle development and design on the various project team.
Organizing and maintaining functionality for database creation and maintenance.
Install and configure Oracle software in preparation of creating various development database environments.
Should be able to monitor and improve performance of database servers.
Act as information resource for questions about the RDBMS (and related software) to developers, management, operators, and users. Should be able to provide information concerning SQL code during tuning of stored procedures and triggers.
Documentation for the database schema and any backend functionality.
Enhance and maintain database recovery strategies for on-site and off-site recoverability.
Oversees conformance to hosting standards for data names, database design documentation and database I/O techniques.
Participate in cross departmental work groups to identify and resolve database provisioning issues and service problems.
Participate as a hands-on member of the Infrastructure Deployment team.
Maintains a broad knowledge of current and emerging state of the database technologies for problem resolution and project planning.
Contacts vendors of RDBMS software for technical assistance and problem resolution.
Candidate will be required to be available outside regular business hours to address production problems, perform maintenance, and provide ongoing support.
BS in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent work experience.
Minimum 5 years experience designing and deploying database infrastructures
Experience with a service provider / multi tenant based network
Must have professional experience in 10g SQL, PL/SQL Development, including writing Oracle Stored Procedures, Functions, Packages and Database Triggers
Good knowledge on Oracle database installation, configuration and cloning.
Must have the ability to tune Oracle SQL and PL/SQL performance
Strong experience with backup and recovery scenarios
Expertise with Oracle dataguard and advanced replication
Good understanding of client / server OS - Windows / UNIX
Experience at configuring data networks comprised of: SAN technologies, Centos and VERITAS Cluster File System.
