I would say Architect can work with different scrum teams to get things done or make sure things are on track as per standards, Architecture.

In single scrum team, unless until if its not a really need like if your team is doing something really complex or making things from sctrach, then Architect can play some role provided as scrum master you make sure his hands are full while he is in Team.

I have worked in several scrum environments where architects were valuable resources. In most cases, they were considered chickens for the most part, with the developers using their knowledge as needed.

In my current company, the architects frequently attend our daily standups, but again - they take on the role of chickens.
