Cannot login into tomcat

I have installed Apache Tomcat 5.5 version on Windows. But I cannot log in with the username and password I choosed while installing tomcat. What can be the problem??

I think you are trying to access "Manager" module of Tomcat to deploy your webapp.

Have you ensured that "manager" role is defined and appropriate user is available in $CATALINA_HOME/conf/tomcat-users.xml?

You have to add it. There should be instructions in the copy of tomcat-users.xml that came with tomcat.

It's not in there by default because people would deploy Tomcat with a known password in the manager account.

Can you please tell how to add it. Here is contents of my tomcat-users.xml file. Please edit it so that I could deploy my .war file.
