Welcome to today's book promotion! Cay is in class today so I'll be your host today and Thursday. Here's a little background on the book:

Even though I had a co-author, this book took nearly as it took me to write the Swing volume of Graphic Java, which was 1662 pages! Core JSF is around 650 pgs, but we had some long waits as the EG (of which I was a member) crafted JSF.

We wanted to write a book that would take you up the learning curve as quickly as possible and I think we achieved that. The book turned out a little fatter than I had envisioned, but that's always the case for me.

Cay had the inspiration for the How Do I... chapter, which is one of my favorite chapters in the book. Since then, I've thought of a second book that's just a collection How To...'s--not too long, maybe about 250 pgs--that shows you how to do common things like inserting asteriks in front of all labels that reference required fields. Would you buy that book?

Let's talk...

(Ah... Now, that's an author that knows how to promote a book at JavaRanch!)

This week we're delighted to have David Geary and Cay Horstmann amongst us, helping to answer questions in the Web Application Frameworks forum.

We'll be selecting four random posters in this forum to win a free copy of their book, "Core JavaServer Faces", provided by the publisher, Pearson Education.

Welcome David and Cay!
