WAR file is basically a ZIP file, same thing like JAR. You can use jar command in Java, unzip command in Linux, WinZip, 7-Zip, WinRAR, etc.

To open war file in Eclipse, you may import the war file to Eclipse through Import option from File Menu.

I am not sure you can open a war file via eclipse as someone mentioned. A war file is basically a zip file with a .war extension. So, you can use any unzipping utility available to you to view its contents.

Don't get me started about those stupid light bulbs.
