Unfortunately there are too many people who believe this, or who think "I'm not sure but let's try it anyway, in case it is real". And so a lot of bandwith is wasted on useless nonsense.
It is amazing that many people will take it seriously. Maybe it's just me, but when someone goes out of the way to say something is "not fake", red flags go off telling me that it is very much likely fake.
What could be the motivation behind this kind of emails? Like I have seen emails where they mention you have won lottery of X millions , please send $2000 to get your money.
Not all emails are out to take your money... some of them are just chain mails, that likely started out as a joke, and seems to have gone viral. According to snopes.com, this chain mail has been around since 1997.
