Good Day,

Understanding WS-Security says -

WS-Security addresses security by leveraging existing standards and specifications. This avoids the necessity to define a complete security solution within WS-Security.

Basic Security Profile Version 1.0 says -

This document defines the WS-I Basic Security Profile 1.0 (hereafter, "Profile"), consisting of a set of non-proprietary Web services specifications, along with clarifications to and amplifications of those specifications which promote interoperability.

As you see, the profile specifies how to use these security technologies together.

Regards,
Dan
