EJB local client VS EJB remote client

Please tell me what are the differences between EJB local client and EJB remote client?

An EJB's local client interface is used when accessing the EJB from within the same JVM. An EJB's remote client interface is used when accessing an EJB in a different JVM from the client. A local client interface has less overhead (it's essentially just method calls). A remote client interfaces uses RMI to make the calls.
