matrix architect wrote:Hi All,
I am confused about a few things since the Exam changed it's name from SCEA and started focusing on ejb3. I am hopeful that someone who has passed the recent version of the exam is able to provide me with some answers:
1. Are there any UML questions?
2. How detailed are the ejb questions? Do you need to know the states or just appropiate usage for stateful, stateless and entity?
3. Are answering the questions of the Mark Cade book of similar difficulty to the actual exam questions?
4. Has the exam increased in length? Wasn't there originaly 48 questions vs 64 now?
5. Are design pattern questions asked in the context of ejbs or more gernerally?
Any feedback is greatly appreciated
Cheers.

The Cade questions are a good representation. As are the sample questions provided on Oracle's site. (The free ones; I didn't buy their question set so I can speak to it.)
I summarized what I learned in a resources section. Basically, you shouldn't use any materials that don't explicitly say SCEA 5 on them.

I cannot vouch for the reliability of the answers, but they could be a good starting point for your endeavor..
dave mitrione wrote:Thank you for the tip. So can you tell me if you had any UML for internationalization questions? As mentioned before the Marc Cade book does not include any chapter on internationalization and explicitly states that UML knowledge is only required for part 2. His book does not include much on transactions either.
dave mitrione wrote:In general can anyone provide a break down in terms of percentage of topics covered?
Do ejbs still constitute the majority of the questions on the exam or has the distribuiton changed?

I did not. I found his advice to be correct in this area.

EJBs were in scope although not an emphasis. And they were at a high level. Like which EJB type do you use if you care about scalability. A big emphasis was scenario questions like in the book.
