Populating the server side values in dojo calendar

Hi, I am new to dojo. I got requirement to get the dates from the database and highlight them in the dojo calendar. To be more specific, I need to show the currency based holidays in my calendar. These dates are in the database. If the currency changed the holiday dates should also changed and the user should not be able to select that date. Any help regarding how I should interact with DB and populate those in the calendar. Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks
