x & Y coordinates through javascript

hi all,


how to get x & y cooridnates through javascript when clcik on a row of a table.

i have below piece of code

			x_offset=  $(element id).offset().center;
			y_offset= $(element id).offset().top + $(jId).height();

the above code is not returing exact x & y coordinates of the row. can you please help out if there are any ways to get this.

I am using IE 7 browser
